STUDENT BIOGRAPHIES

Salve!  My name is Sheila Bennett and I am a Special Education teacher at Robert L. Bland Middle School in Weston, WV.  Presently I’m working in inclusive classrooms in the 8th grade.  My job is to collaborate with three English Language Arts teachers to differentiate the lessons for the special education students in their classrooms.  I also have a self-contained classroom in which I provide direct instruction in reading/language arts to a small group of students on a daily basis.  I have been teaching in the field of special education for ten years.  I took a short leave of absence from the teaching profession and worked as a behavior specialist in a mental health facility for seven years.  During that time I obtained my licensure in social work.  I love teaching and working with special needs students; whether they are learning disabled, behavior or mentally impaired.  I truly Love special education.  On a personal note; I have two adult children, presently only one pet – a cat named Izzy, I live in the country on one of the back roads in WV in an old farmhouse, and I love to listen to P.B.S. Some of my hobbies are gardening, cooking, hiking, and reading – I have many hobbies, as I’m interested in just about everything. Arrivederci!  A presto in Italia!
